That’s exactly what happened to a TikTok user named Lauren from California, USA, who noticed a $135 charge on her credit card for an online purchase she had never made.
Before calling her credit card provider, Lauren first asked her family members if anyone had used her card, but they all said no. So, she decided to investigate who had used her card details.
In a viral video, Lauren explained that she called the customer service of the store where the purchase was made and asked for the buyer’s name and address. “Hey, can you help me with something?” Lauren asked the representative. “If I give you the time and date, the purchase amount, the card number, and any other details, could you tell me who placed the order?”
According to the TikToker, the store employee revealed that a man named Jason, from a modest suburb in Texas, had used her card to buy a gift for his wife. “They also did this on Black Friday, so at least they got a discount, I guess. It was a gift set,” Lauren shared.
In her video, Lauren explains that after discovering who had used her card, she called her credit card company and provided the fraudster’s information. According to her, the company is now investigating the case.
